Elton John is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, a singer, pianist and composer whose career spans more than five decades.

He began losing his hair in his twenties and, in the mid to late 1970s, underwent a hair transplant — one of the earliest among major celebrities — well before his famous wigs and flamboyant styling became a signature part of his image.

He has discussed the procedure openly, including in his autobiography Me, writing candidly about going bald young and deciding to have the transplant at a time when such procedures were rarely talked about in public.
