Norwood Stage 3 Vertex

In stage 3 vertex, hair loss centres on the crown (vertex) rather than the hairline. There is a distinct bald spot at the back with only mild temple recession.

Key facts

  • ·Bald spot forms at the crown.
  • ·Frontal hairline is largely preserved.
  • ·Sometimes mistaken for "a bald patch" rather than patterned loss.

Treatment

Crown loss responds well to both medication and transplant. Because the crown is less visible than the hairline, some men treat it with medication only.
